1.6 Ghia auto running fault

Featured Replies

Hi, I have 2005 Focus Ghia 1.6 auto that has a random running fault. If driven normally and light on the accelerator the car is fine, if you start going up a hill and push for a little gas the car starts to stutter, if you keep your foot down it gets worse to a degree, back off and it will generally clear through it.The same happens if you lift your foot off the pedal then put it back on like coming onto a large roundabout , it's almost as if the car doesn't know if it should change down or not as if it's hesitating to change gear and gets stuck. Management light will flicker during this but rarely stays on and if it does stay on it clears when the car is restarted. Any ideas are welcomed.

Sound like a throttle position sensor issue but it's best to get a decent code reader to find out.
