EGR valve stuck

Featured Replies

Hi all have multiple issues I'm working through on my car one of which is an EGR issue currently throwing a code that it is stuck open and is down on power so assuming maybe it is carbed up.

I've gotten to the valve ok removed the to bolts on the back and have unclipped the metal hose clip which attaches to metal pipe BUT this pipe is seized on and I cannot for the life of me get the valve off. I've tried leaving some wd40 to soak in and hit it with a rubber mallet a few times but it doesn't seem to want to budge.

In addition to the above I'm thinking of blanking EGR but worried it will throw an engine management code.

Any suggestions? car is 2009 fiesta econetic 1.6 tdci

Thank you

Matt

Going to try some PB blaster tomorrow see if I can get it to budge

I had the exact same issue would throw up an code got a clean and was fine for a couple of weeks then throw up the code again after a few more weeks of clearing the code the egr went and It had to be replaced

There is topic ie post explaining "..EGR valve had seized up so the motor on the valve wasn't turning the valve so he was turning the valve manually with long nose pliers very gently which loosened it"

There is this solution, to replace lifting pin using replacement part.

Edit; only now saw this is Fiesta, sorry.

This is going to be a long weekend 🤔
