Wifi won't connect to my broadband - here's the answer!

Featured Replies

My Sync3 equipped 2017 S-Max refuses to connect to my home wifi (Ubiquiti AcPro) and after some tests and research it seems to be because I have "fast roaming" enabled which is defined under the 802.11r standard.  This allows a seamless connection as you move around between access points.

This chap has come across the same issue and has done an amazing amount of research and tried to engage Ford with limited success.  https://www.ford-wifi-is-broken.com

Anyway, as for the solution, I switched off the Fast Roaming option on my guest network and straight away the car connects and is able to successfully check for updates.

For note; Fast Roaming is a feature really aimed at enterprise so probably doesn't exist on regular domestic broadband modem/wifi boxes.

Hopefully this helps someone.
