Securing a ford mondeo MK4 (UK)

Featured Replies

Evening chaps,

The car is a ford Mondeo Titanium petrol, MK4 I believe (made in 2008).

Last night a neighbour saw some little ***** sniffing around it, around the front, under the car and trying to open the boot, a little bit of research suggests these cars are vulnerable to OBD scanning/key programming. The car does not have keyless start.

Is OBD scanning still a threat with old fashioned key ignition?

Are there any other security flaws I need to be aware of?

And how do I secure the car further?

It appears to have no in build steering lock (car is a week old to me) tried turning ignition off and wiggling the wheel but nothing happened. It does have an alarm, the internal sensor didn't seem to do much but while sitting in the car I rocked it side to side which set the alarm off. Double locking and such too.

Anything I need to know about the Mondeo's? And OBD locking, any good brands out there that I can have installed to lock the OBD port?

Do you want to say how it 'got solved' and maybe help someone else out in the future?
