Puddle light acsess mk2 2016

Featured Replies

Ok I gave it another go I can easily get the round light to pop out after moving the automated mirror to the upper side position so you can get in with a small flat head driver.

The problem is they come out half way and then dont want to come out. This happens no matter how bad you pull on it. I will end up breaking the mirror at this rate.

So now I'm thinking why not remove the mirror but how would I do this. I am sure their is a way to do it as if you was to crack the mirror and put a new one on. That way I can see why it won't come out either.

Do you need to give the light a half turn once half out. There be lugs that need to match up with cutouts.

Ehh I tried to twist and turn. Either I take the mirror bit out and get behind it.... or somehow cut the plastic housing on the puddle light itself so I can then make it smaller. I'm not sure why it dont want to come out.

When the spring catch is released the lamp should hinge down a bit but you can't pull it straight out. you pull away from the bit that's still attached, away from the door. If you look at the new ones you should be able to work out how they are fitted in. However, you should be able to remove the mirror glass, it is just clipped on, although it is a tight clip. It will feel as if the mirror glass will break, but shouldn't. Good luck.

Yeah I have done pretty much everything the passenger side comes off right away but the drives side don't.

I'm not sure if it's attached to something, hence why I wanted to remove the mirror. Also yes it does feel like I am going to break the mirror so I did not want to pull that to hard.

Update:

Finally i have done it. From the looks of it... the plastic in the back was bent, that's why it did not want to come out. However I did damage the hole alittle bit too. Anyhow I put the upgrades on and they work very well and bright too.

Why don't car manufacturers just give them as standard now days.

My original ones were already LED but very yellow and dim. My new ones are white and bright, much better. Glad yours are done and no broken glass.
