Mk4 Boot Leak

I've just noticed a leak in the boot.  Before I start with the pain of trying to establish exactly where the water is coming from, does anyone know of any common issues with the mk4 and the boot leaking.  I have read something about a new screen being used from 2009, mine is a 2009 but I'm not sure if it is using this new design.

 

I have noticed that this water along the boot seal near to where the water it is. So that's my main focus at the moment.  would this be the replacement of the entire seal or is there a fix?
