Smart Charge - Mk4 1.8TDCi

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction with the below:

I have a 2007 mk4 Mondeo -1.8 TDCi

Battery light has been illuminated off and on for a number of months, had a new Bosch Silver Calcium battery fitted and the alternator tested a few months back.

Alternator tested ok, giving around 13.5 volts. Error code was to do with smart charge communication.

Guessing the wiring loom is going to be the cause of the issue.

Does anyone know of any guides to trace the smart charge cables. I can see the loom coming from the alternator, but it disappears around the dipstick (not me 😝) can’t find where it runs after this.

Also, if the loom is faulty/damaged, does anybody know the part number?

Thanks in advance.
