Mondeo mk 4 engine noise

Hi all, hope you can help me. On a cold/morning start up a worrying clunking noise is coming from the engine bay. It stops when I press on the clutch gently. It’s ok for a while but will do it again if I start the engine later in the day. It sounds expensive to be honest but I only know how to drive them not fix them I’m afraid. It’s a 2.0l tdci 2007 engine. It drives like a dream so it doesn’t seem like anything is wrong only the noise on start up. Hope someone to maybe help to say either scrap it it’s going to be expensive or maybe hopefully a quick cheap fix! Here’s hoping. Ryan.

p.s its a very random noise no rhythm to it.
