Any idea what this noise is on start up on my focus?

Featured Replies

Recently when I start my car up, it makes this noise, after a few seconds it stops. If the engine is warm, like if I have popped into the shop, when I get back in the car it doesn’t make the noise. Any idea what the noise could be? Thanks!

It is a 12 plate ecoboost focus. I’ve asked on some Facebook groups and have had no replies at all!

Thanks

It's quite had to determine by the noise but sound like a fan. Have you done any check for codes to see if there is any pointers?

No, if I’m not getting any error messages would anything show up? Thanks.

I had a similar noise on a Peugeot 307 a few years ago, it was a kind of whirring noise after I drove about a hundred yards. On that, it turned out to be a faulty ABS pump.

Sounds like a fan to me, possibly catching on something maybe? Open the bonnet and look at the fan whilst someone else starts the car (maybe do another video from there too)

Hello guys,

Did you end up figuring out what this noise was in the end?

Thanks

My 17 plate sometimes makes this noise. I think you can try checking it.

Hi,

Did you find out the reason for this noise?

What actions did you take to correct this?

I am facing similar issues with my focus Mk3.5 Ecoboost 1.0 engine lately. Looks like very peculiar problem with very few discussions on this issue on the internet & conclusions.

Thanks.
