Hi I have a 13 plate s max. There is a red button with what looks an alternator sign on it, by the handbrake. Any ideas what it's for please??

    That's the engine management symbol. I've never seen it on a button like that though.

    It will flash if I press it!

    It looks like it might have been a previous owner "add on" but very well done. I could offer a dozen guesses what its for but I don't actually know. Is your car Petrol or Diesel?

    Does the button stay down when pressed or is it just a momentary button ? I hope you find the answer as I'd love to know what it does.

    It's a diesel. Once pressed it flashes, I had to turn the ignition of and neck on to get it to stop.
