Ford smax 2009 2.2 juddering under acceleration

Featured Replies

Hello new here , I have just bought a ford smax 2.2 175bhp , 90k miles , the problem I am having is hard to explain and I'm hoping someone knows what it is so here goes , the car starts fine first time , when accelerating it's judders , for instance at slow speeds , like in traffic it kinda kangaroos , if I put more revs on and drive it hard there's no problems, egr changed , boost pipe changed, no warning lights , it is drive able but makes me feel like a learner driver while in traffic due to the juddering , got the car as spares and repairs due to no power steering ( replaced pump and now it's fine ) I'm at 1100 so far and it's just passed the mot, doesn't go into limp mode. I have searched Google for days and not being able to find nothing concrete! Here's what I am thinking but not sure at all ..

Pcm update ??

Valve on turbo ??

Fuel filter ??

Dmf ??

Air leak??

Injectors ??

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately it could be many things.

I'd start with the fuel filter, check there isnt an air leak on the fuel system, and check your fuel rail pressure. The clear fuel lines from the filter, check for air.

If you haven't got an OBD2 reader, I'd suggest you get one,

Could it be clutch judder? I had a car where in slow moving traffic the car would judder when letting the clutch out but fine during normal driving.

I occasionally get similar in 1st gear pulling away in mine (2012 2.2 TDCi), generally blame the clutch, and then use 2nd gear instead, normally ok as you slip the clutch a bit more then.

Car has only done 118k miles, on the original clutch as far as I am aware (I've had mine since 52k miles / 3.5 years old)
