Door lock internals

Featured Replies

I removed the drivers door lock on mk3 Mondeo to try and clean the micro switches (wish i had left it alone), when trying to separate the two halves, the levers and springs tried to escape and i have no idea how it all goes back.

Does any one know where  i could possibly find a schematic of the internal position of the parts, i have searched the internet and found other makes but non like the Ford locks.

Sorry, no, didn't even know you could get inside them!  I've got an old one, but I suppose if I opened it up (if I knew how) the same thing would happen to mine.

Hi, its quite easy to get into and i suppose if i had taken a bit more care on opening the two halfs i would have taken note of the internals.

I have got it back together now except for one small spring and i can not work out the position of it, oh well, will keep trying.

Thanks for a reply.

Good luck! And if you think me taking mine apart would help, give me instructions and I'll take pics

mine came from one of my old doors which I'd replaced due to the rust at the bottom issue, so the replacement door came complete. The old door lock module had the cold weather problem, where the central locking would work on its own, so I always had to carry a spare key in my pocket so as not to get locked out, but summertime  worked fine. (but still carried that spare key)

Thanks for the offer Nicam, i will try and post some photo's of the strip down and the spring that i am stuck to where it fits, are you sure about taking yours apart.

Sure, I'm curious just how to get into it anyway! Also, seeing as there's no how-to guide anywhere, you'll be doing Mondeo-kind a favour!
