Default radio volume too high

Featured Replies

Hi, when we start the ignition the DAB radio automatically turns on which is fine. However the volume is too high. Our startup routine is always: 1) Start engine 2) Turn radio volume down

Is there a way to change the default volume? The current default setting is 6, which ends up quite loud with DAB. I couldn’t find anything in settings.

The Sync3 audio volume upon start up is usually the level it was left on when you last switched the car off.

Are you saying if you turn the volume down to 3 then upon restart it returns to volume 6?

Correct. When the car starts the volume is always reset to volume 6.

This definitely isn’t normal, I made a point of checking my own car today and the volume level upon startup is whatever it was set at prior to shut down.

My train of thought is maybe you have a low battery charge and starting the car is pulling so much of the available power causing Sync3 to have issues. Could you charge the battery fully with a mains powered charger and see if that resolves the problem?

Other than that it may be wise to book a visit to your local Ford Service.

Hmm, thanks for checking Andy. The engine auto-off has recently stopped working too which I think is because the battery is in recharge mode. We've only had the car a year but the previous owner clocked 18,000 miles so maybe it does need a new battery. I'll look into it.

Thanks again. I'll report back.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I’m experiencing this issue myself.

Did you ever find a fix/work around if you don’t mind me asking?

Any help would be appreciated.
