Covid 19 Self isolate ???

Featured Replies

Don't know if anyone can help on this..........NHS APP.............

Went up doctors this morning all fine and checked me aover etc and showed him my phone as i had to take blood pressure results off my Omron Bluetooth machine.

Came back and went and got my 2nd COVID-19 jab at 12.30 all fine not 1 person waiting so walked right in and sat down for around 3 mins (person i know from my surgery) gave me it.

Came back and had an Alert on my phone to self-isolate for 7 days from today which i will do,i know the timer is from 3 days to 14 but just wondered why i got 7 days.

It's strange that i literally  went by not one person only the one who gave it to me which is a nurse who i know well, rang doctors to tell them and thats it.

It will be from an earlier contact. The self isolation period includes the day you were last in contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 and the next 10 full days. So if you were told to isolate for 7 days from today you were in close contact with someone on 20 May.

That is roughly my understanding also from my own experience. In my case the clock started from when my close contact first got their symptoms, not, when they got a confirmed test, which was a few days later, so I only had to isolate for about 7 days also.

Yes, I thought like Paul that it was 10 days and that is is what the NHS Test and Trace site says.

Your self-isolation period includes the day you were last in contact with the person who tested positive and the next 10 full days.

Presumably the alert doesn't say who you were in close contact with so the Vaccination Site could just be a coincidence?

(Never had an alert myself fortunately but do know of people who have had multiple alerts which is incredibly frustrating.)

I did think it was 10 days and looking into the app setting it says Thursday 20th so 7 days from today, weird that it don't tell you for 3 days after.

Cheers to all for clearing that up, i know there have been loads of problems with this app saying false stuff.

So 7 days from now I'm in, strange as i went up to doctors at 10.30 and walked in after having my 2nd jab at 12.30 and i get the alert.

The app can't tell you to isolate before they've had the positive test result. It'll just be down to the fact that the person you were in contact with didn't get tested till 2/3 days after they bumped into you.

Can't complain at free time off work to sit in the garden with this weather though...
