Biting point drops to really low

Featured Replies

Hi all

This is my first time posting here but I was wondering if someone would be able to give a bit of advice on an issue I have been having with my UK MK7 Fiesta Zetec (2013 plate).

Occasionally, when going into first/reverse the biting point drops to really close to the floor (I only have to release the clutch an inch or so in order to move the car). When this happens  the gear also sometimes gets locked into place and the only way I can take it out of gear is to turn the engine off and then take it out of gear.

I have recently had the clutch/brake fluid changed and bled but this does not seem to have fixed the issue.

The car has done ~37,000 miles and has never had any of the clutch/transmission parts changed as far as I am aware.

Does anyone have any idea on what could be at fault here?

Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem some years ago and it turned out to be the clutch slave cylinder.

I've the exact same problem on my 17 Fiesta at the moment. Also at 37000mls coincidentally.

Did you find what the issue was? I have the same problem, also at 37000!

Taken it to a gear and clutch specialist who can't identify it either.

Clutch slave cylinder unable to hold pressure would be my thoughts.

I assume that the clutch fluid level hasn't dropped and there are no signs of leaks.
