Whining while accelerating

Featured Replies

Good afternoon guys!

apologies if this is posted in the wrong place, new to this!

ive recently purchased a 2009 Ford Mondeo Titanium X, 2.0 TDCI automatic.

when accelerating I hear a slight whining noise that tends to get loud at between 1800rpm and 2500rpm. I think it may also be ever so slightly louder when turning.

ive tried to find where the noise is coming from, but it only seems to make the noise while I’m actually moving. If I press the pedal while stationary it doesn’t make any noise.

My first thought was a power steering issue - ive checked the reservoir and it does look like it’s got some bubbles in there, so assuming maybe it was changed and it needs bleeding? Just wasn’t sure if this would cause the noise constantly while accelerating or if this would only cause an issue while turning.

Apologies if this doesn’t make sense, please ask any questions and I’ll try my best to make it clearer if needed.

thank you
