Fan keeps going after I turn off the car

Featured Replies

I have the above happening when I switch off. It keeps going for about 2 minutes. Is it anything to worry about? Will it drain the battery?

Unless your battery is on it's last legs you should be fine, the fan will run until your car is happy that the coolant temperature is within its happy range.

Also, the fan can continue to run when the DPF is running a regeneration cycle.  What kind of journeys are you currently doing i.e. all short journeys as this could mean the DPF isn't getting the chance to regenerate and potentially could end up being blocked.

My journey home from work is 14 miles so not exactly a short one. It hasn't done it tonight coming home as the temperature has dropped. I will see how it goes.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's perfectly normal so no need to see how it goes.
