2018 FORD FOCUS TITANIUM X 1.0L ECOBOOST

My car isn't yet 3 years old and its Battery doesn't hold its charge for any appreciable length of time. This problem seemed to coincide with a Software/Map update I put on SYNC 3 in July 2020.

My local Ford dealership has tried to pinpoint any problems and they say that the Battery is okay, the Alternator charging rate is within specification as is the Vehicle locked drain rate. They can see no problem.

The Ford mechanic asked whether I activated the Electronic Handbrake before locking the car as this was a modification introduced by the Software update to turn off unnecessary electrical equipment. I have been doing this since December but still the Battery can't hold its charge for 2 or 3 weeks.

It would be useful if Ford issued the Release Notes with future Software/Map updates so that the car owner can see what's being modified.

Has anyone else had this or a similar problem and have they cured it?

Many thanks.

Does your stop/start work? Ford batteries normally only manage to last around the 3 yr mark on vehicles with efb battery/ stop start. Garage may say the battery is ok but I doubt that is the case. I would put a new battery on if it were my car.

The Stop/Start only works when the Ford Dealership fully charge the Battery but only lasts for a day or two.

May not be relevant, but I had the same issue with my Fiesta as it approached the three year mark. Stop/Start would not work whatsoever, and as soon as I got in the car, the system would shut off to save battery unless I instantly started the engine. Seems as above that the battery may be crap.

Thank you for your thoughts about my problem.

I took the car back to the Ford Dealership again on Saturday and the Battery was retested and FAILED. It would seem that Ford have updated the Test Equipment they use, hence the change in test result.
