Air bubbles in diesel supply line between filter and high pressure pump

Featured Replies

Hello!

I was doing some servicing on my Mondeo 2013 MkIV 2 liter Peugeot diesel, and tried to drain water from the diesel filter.

I removed the screw on top of the filter housing and opened the similar screw under the filter behind the oil filler neck until the diesel level in the filter dropped some cm. Then I tightened the screws and started the engine. After some minutes it ran as usual.

However:
I havent worked on the diesel supply on this engine, and observed "by accident" the clear parts of the suppy line between the filter and the pump. I  see bubbles! Is this a problem or normal before a suction pump (vapour vs air)?

The bubbles might well have been present before me draining water.

I have had the car resting for 24 hours, and it started just fine.

Best wishes and thanks!
