gearbox how to put transmission oil in had the car for 4 yrs so dont know if there is oil in

The gearbox filler is behind the wheelarch on the right hand side of the car - it's a large plug with perhaps 24mm or 27mm hex head on it. You can't check the level as such, you'd just need to see how much oil it took before it starts coming out of the filler.

From memory you need to get the wheel off then it's somewhere below where the driveshaft goes into the gearbox. A bit fiddly to reach but doable.

In truth they don't tend to use transmission oil unless there's a leak from the driveshaft oil seals - if you haven't touched it for 4 years it's probably ok or you'd have had problems by now.

Car needs to be level though, no good checking it with the front end lifted on axle stands or it'll definitely read low.

It's pretty easy to get to with a socket and long extension, it's just right next to one of the "fins" used for strengthening the gearbox casing. You may need to grind the outside of the socket down a little.

If you do plan on filling it, you'll need some flexible tube (or a pump) to stick on the end of the bottle and into the gearbox filler hole. You'll not get the bottle itself in there.

Absolutely.

Park on Level ground and measure the height of the bottom of the door to the ground.

Jack up and remove wheel, then lower the vehicle back to the door measurement👍
