Parking assist not working, B1B53 - Front Sounder code showing

Featured Replies

Now I've finally got my laptop working *and* a proper cable I decided to look at why the parking assist isn't working.

Forscan reports:

Code: U0140 - Lost Communication With Body Control Module

Status:
 - DTC Maturing - Intermittent at Time of Request
 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Parking Aid Module

I'm assuming this means either the PAM is faulty, or wiring related? I'm looking for a little help on where to begin diagnosing, location of stuff like the PAM, wiring etc.

Cheers!

And... already an update. I decided to clear the codes and see what happens. Still get a long beep when I put the car into reverse, but now I only get a single fault code, which persists after resetting:

Code: B1B53 - Front Sounder

Additional Fault Symptom:
 - General Electrical Failure

Status:
 - DTC Present at Time of Request
 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Parking Aid Module

Luckily it was the speaker and not the wiring or anything like that. Popped a new one in, problem fixed

Where is the module and speaker located please

Not sure about the module but the speaker is behind the instrument cluster. Dead easy to pop that out, turn the wheel left/right and you can see a couple of tabs to pop. Pull the steering column down, and then pull the part with the gator out. Unscrew the two screws you see, then shove a credit card up between the top (centre) of the instrument cluster and the dash. The unit just pulls straight out towards you, and you will then see the speaker mounted at the top.
