Focus ST-Line - fitting rear electric windows

Featured Replies

I'm about to buy a 2018 Focus 140bhp ST-Line, but one down side is it doesn't have electric rear windows.   Does anyone know if there's a kit can be purchased and if the wire loom is already in place... is it an easy home job?

Thx

converting the standard electric windows (front only) to comfort windows (both front and rear) is not an easy job.

The standard electric windows are fully analog. The windows are directly controlled using switches and (integrated) relays.
The comfort windows are fully digital. The comfort windows are controlled by door modules using CANbus communication.

Being completely different systems converting standard electric windows to comfort windows requires the following parts:

* Driver door window switches for comfort windows.
* Passenger door window switch for comfort windows.
* Rear left window switch for comfort windows.
* Rear right window switch for comfort windows.
* Driver side door module.
* Passenger side door module.
* Rear left side door module.
* Rear right side door module.
* Rear left side window mechanism for comfort windows.
* Rear right side window mechanism for comfort windows.
* Driver door wiring harness for comfort windows.
* Passenger door wiring harness for comfort windows.
* Rear left door wiring harness for comfort windows.
* Rear right door wiring harness for comfort windows.
* Rear left door inner door panel (without the hole that the manual windows panel has).
* Rear right door inner door panel (without the hole that the manual windows panel has).

If the interior (floor) harness does not support comfort windows it also needs to be replaced.

After all required parts are installed the system needs to be configured correctly using a suitable diagnostic system.

So, in short that's a no.

That's an incredible amount of work and new bits for little reward.

Excellent answer Wilko, thats a hell of a parts list, I'm sure I would give it a miss if it was my car.

Spot on, just to add, cabin harness may support (depending on options fitted) you will need to check what pins are present in the cabin side of the door harness connector points.

It is a big job, which I decided against in our ST-Line, my advice would be to look for a car that had the optional convenience pack (that gave front & rear park aid, elec windows and powerfolds) or look for an ST-Line X which had it all standard.

Thx guys for the answer.  The list of parts is just a no no for me.  Too big a job.  I'll look for a ST-Line X.

Thx.

Wise decision. There's plenty of ST-Line Xs out there, especially the 140 PS manuals
