Clutch Pedal Sensor/Switch - Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Hi All

I apologise if this topic has been covered a thousand times already, however I would appreciate any help if possible.

I have 2013 Focus Titanium, I've owned it for a couple of years and the cruise control and stop/go functions have never worked.

I recently decided to make a bit of effort to get either or both working, but I don't won't to spend a fortune in the process so I am very reluctant to take it to Ford.

I have bought a cheap diagnostic tool which indicted a number of clutch pedal sensor faults.

The "Clutch down" switch works fine and I can see it operating when monitoring via the diagnostic software.

The "Clutch  Up" switch doesn't work. I've checked the switch with a multimeter and it's ok.

So I cut off the 2 pin connector thinking that the plug/socket on the switch might be the issue.

I then shorted the two cables together to simulate the switch opening/closing whilst monitoing the position on the diagnostic tool, still nothing.

I've put a voltmeter on both wires and I'm not seeing any volts on either.

Has anyone any advice as to where to look next?

Thanks, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

Check the connections to the BCM, look for signs of water around the connectors and when you pull the plugs out look for signs of corrosion of the pins.

The Stop/Start system will not work while there is a clutch pedal sensor problem. Of course it maybe that a previous owner didn't like Stop/Start and has delibrately disconnected the clutch sensor.

I know one of my previous cars is probably still running round with Stop/Start disabled and when the car I have now is moved on, it too will be getting sold with S/S disabled.

I too have problems with the cruise control and stop/start functions, they used to work but now seem to have stopped.  Can you tell me where the BCM unit is so that I can check that before I delve deeper into possible alternative causes.  My car is a 1.0 litre 2014/15 Focus Titanium X.  Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

First I would give up on the idea that you will ever get the Start/Stop to work, its a flawed system and spends most of its time not working. If you really want to try and get it to work buy a brand new battery (has to be for Stop/Start) and fit that.

The Cruise Control is a diffrent matter, if it used to work and now won't, you could have a fault. You need to read the DTC codes and see what is logged. This will then point you in the right direction.

The BCM (Body Control Module) is part of the Fuse box located in the passenger side footwell,

Thanks Unofix I'll direct my attention to the BCM and let you know how it goes.
