Reversing Camera Insyall issues

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am looking for some advice. I am trying to wire a reversing camera up to my car.

I have wired the av feed to the car stereo, and the positive cable going to the parking brake cable on the stereo to allow the stereo to show the camera when it goes in to the reverse gear.

In the back of the car I have wired the power for the camera to the positive and negative of one of the reversing lights.

The positive cable in av feed in the back has been connected to the positive wire of the reserving light.

I have looked at lots of videos about wiring this up, and this is the best I have got. And still the camera will not display in the stereo.

Is someone please able to assist. The car is a Ford focus cc3 2008. The stereo is a Sony xav-ax8050d.

i just connect to stereo and to the camera. i did make a mistake of connecting to reverse lights and stereo but the the camera just stayed on so i removed the reverse light all good.

Thanks for the tip. I have just tried that and I did not work. So I think my camera is slightly different.

If you have any other suggestions, there would be grateful received.

From memory mine is just powered up by the feed from the reversing lamp then the AV feed goes to the head unit.

As a cheap-ish test you could pick up a TFT screen and basic reversing camera off Amazon or Ebay, and use those for testing to see if another camera works on your screen or your camera gives the screen a feed.

I've ended up with several spare reversing cameras that are built into the licence plate lamp holder if yours is a facelift model and the CC is same fitting.
