Edinburgh?

Featured Replies

In a couple of weeks we have four nights in Edinburgh.

What should we go see?

The Camera Obscura is quite cool.

Being a Rebus fan I've always wanted to go for a pint in The Oxford Bar but not managed so far.

The Juniper Bar in The Indigo Hotel on Princess Street serves tasty grub at not too bad a price, for Edinburgh.

Try one of the tourist bus tours first to get acquainted with the place then it might be easier to make your mind up. There are lots of things to see but it depends on what you are into.

If it is pouring with rain one day then the National Museum in Chambers Street is not as boring as it sounds, but because of Covid number restrictions you need to book online instead of just walking in but it is free. The National Gallery is the same if you are into that type of thing but you couldn't spend hours there.

Not boring at all imo. Spent hours in there and still need another visit to see everything

I'd also recommend one of the tour buses to get a quick overview for further exploration.

I think the Royal Yacht Britannia down in Leith is open but booking only, due to Covid, of course. Found that very interesting also. Some good eateries down there too.

When staying in Leith, we've enjoyed a walk down to Portobello if you like a traditional seaside and beach.

Similarly, you might wander down to South Queensferry if you fancy a close up of the Forth Bridge.

Castle very interesting if thats your thing, pre-booking again I believe.

Another vote for the Camera Obscura, and like Kevin I'm a big Ian Rankin fan but have also yet to pop into the "Ox".😀

Edinburgh castle was interesting, the ghost walk with https://www.witcherytours.com

was great fun. Christmas markets were on when we were there. I'd go again.

Yes, we definitely want to do that one

I enjoyed a recent visit to https://www.rosslynchapel.com/ (Da Vinci Code and all that).  I drove up to Edinburgh but if you've not got a car there's taxis (expensive) and buses from Princes Street.

The carved stone inside is exquisite - never seen anything like it before.
