mk1 focus estate

Featured Replies

hi guys-i have  a 2002 mk1 focus estate-in good nick, just done 50000 miles miles and looking a bit scabby underneath (light rust as advised on mot) mostly suspension components.does anyone in the vale of glamorgan know of any garages/other who hire/rent out a pit or ramp by the hour/day so i could do the work.garages dont seem to entertain this sort of work,so being a retired mech thought i would do it myself--the required work only entails wire brushing and paint.nearest point to barry.vog would be appreciated.thanks.

Hi Pete, I don't think you will find any garage anywhere who will let you hire their ramp/pit. Health and Safety and more importantly their liability insurance would not allow it.

If you were lucky to find a little back street garage, a 'one man band' then unofficially for cash in hand they might, but then if you're using there garage what are they going to be doing ?

You used to see this sort of thing fairly often a few years back. A quick Google brought up this:

Long way from Vale of Glamorgan I know, but could be worth having a good search on the web, or someone may indeed know of something a bit nearer.

Ah !! a good idea Roger, I had forgotten about Motor Clubs. Many years since I've seen one but can be very useful

Me too.

I used to have a really handy arrangement years ago. My then father in law was workshop foreman at a bus depot so I used to be able to (unofficially of course!) use all the facilities at quiet times!😀
