Hi there quick question I have a mk4 mondeo 2007 2.0l duratec and I get rev hang while changing gears it only happens when the car is cold is this normal ??

    No, it's not normal.  The 1/8/2.0 Duratec is a tried a tested design but like most engine's it has it's weaknesses:

    • PCV system IS a maintenance item but is hidden inside the inlet manifold (thanks Mazda, great thinking there!) :wallbash:
    • Vacuum hoses can and WILL perish over time and when this happens you will almost certain see idle/throttle response issues
    • Throttle body can start to stick when it's ready for a good clean
    • AND....if the oil renewal has been really neglected, they love to eat piston rings! (at which point you'll find yourself "topping up" the oil on a REALLY regular basis)
