Focus MK4 Wing Mirror Whistle Noise

Featured Replies

Hi all, I know there are a couple of conversations on here regarding this issue, however I'm just wondering if anyone has anymore solutions..
My 1ltr ecoboost ST-Line X comes with the most irritating whistling noise from driver side wing mirror when travelling at around 40/60mph. Definitely the mirror as when I fold them in the noise disappears.
Returned to dealership not long after I got it but they couldn't identify an issue and just "tightened up" the mirror.
I've read it's a common fault with mk4, but jst seeing if anyone has any solutions/advice. Surely every focus driver dosent have this issue?

Cheers!

Not noticed it on mine, perhaps they've costed out even more soundproofing?

If you want to stop wind noise, fill or plug all the gaps in the door mirror area (door casing, upper trim and mirror off) and remove the mirror cap also and plug all holes

Yea I've had mirror cap off to double check screws were tight etc. I'll give your suggestion a try. Cheers

Has anyone took off/replaced the weatherstrip door seal or any other seal due to whistle/wind noise.

I posted last week that I thought it was the mirror causing the whistle but after taping it up in as many places I could the whistle noise was still happening.

I also said before the noise disappeared when I folded in the mirrors which has made me think its cause they are stopping air hitting off the weatherstrip seal when there folded in.

Just another thought I have. Any help/advice would be appreciated 👍🏻
