1.0 Ecoboost 125ps - 2012 - good or bad?

Featured Replies

Looking at one of these. It’s a 2012 Titanium which has 82k on clock for £3300. Is that a good price?

Are there any issues with these engines I should be aware of. One place says cambelt is lifetime, others say 150k miles and it’s a £1300 job!

Thats correct. Cam belt is 150k miles or 10 years, but it's basically lifetime as nobody is really expecting these engines to last that long unless it's up and down the motorway every day.

It's expensive as it's expected to take around 8 hours for someone who knows what they're doing. There's also quite a few specialist tools required that aren't cheap, so quite a few garages will probably turn you away.

I doubt many people will be changing their belt after 10 years due to the cost though. It's probably why the car is so cheap tbh, the belt is due to be changed sometime next year.

People are expecting quite a few of these older ecoboosts to drop in value over the next year as the cambelts start coming up for changing.

Doesn't bode well for our 12-plate Mk3 at 41K then .

No. 150k on the 1.0L ecoboost.

Be interesting to hear what was the highest mileage recorded on a 1.0 ecoboost and if it still lives.Im going to do my cylinder head and belt etc very soon.Dont think there's anything to be afraid of as long as you have the tools time and patience
