Drivers window autoclose not working and window rebounding open again

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all

I have a 2019 Focus and recently noticed that the one touch autoclose drivers window function does not work. Also noticed the when manually closing the window, if automatically rebounds open when trying to close it.

I have seen a few guides about holding window open for 5 secs and then hold closed for 5 secs to reset it, but I cannot hold window closed  as it just rebounds open again.

No idea where to start and the Internet has not shed much light. Bought it in September but dealer is quite a way away so keen to avoid 100 mile journey.

Thanks in advance all. Chris

Think I saw a long term review on YouTube and they had this issue, the fix was in the manual under "Reset Window Rebound"... Was an easy fix but can't remember how it was done. Solution was towards the end of the clip below.

Useful video - window bounce back 6:40

Thanks guys. The video talks about closing the window by holding the button down when it is closed. The problem is that the window doesn't stay closed so does not appear to be a solution.

Hi Chris, all you need to do is slowly - a little bit at a time - tease the window up - use up the button - just a fraction of a second at a time - until the window is closed.

Then follow the instructions in the video, or read your handbook and it should take only a couple of minutes.

I don't like the bounce back system so following the instructions in the handbook, I have turned "Bounce Back" off, for my car.

Thanks all. Had to repeat the process in the manual several times and appears to be not rhyme or reason but its sorted now. Many thanks for your help. Chris

Let me know if this works.  Ive had mine back to the dealer twice for this as the published fix doesn’t work.

Eerrr... didn't he say it worked?

Hi Justin, he did say it's sorted now.

I turned the bounce back system off for my car. It's easier than having to keep reprogramming the windows.

Just follow the instructions in the handbook, they are a bit iffy but do work.

Sorry.  I wasn’t clear. I was typing too fast and got distracted by the F1 crash.
I was looking to see if there was a true fix for a récurante of this annoying fault.   I’ve had this as a recurring problem, every 4-5 weeks, and the published ´fix’ in the manual doesn’t work.  Even the mechanic at my dealer tried it in front of me and it failed 3 times.

Hi Justin, the simple answer is turn it off. Bounce back is an option, you don't have to have it. I turned mine off last year and the windows work fine, and if you stick your fingers in when the window is closing (which I don't recomend) then the window still stops it just doesn't reverse.
