Extreme vibration under load 3rd through 6th when engine is warm.

Featured Replies

Hello. New to the site. (Had the car 9 years) and now only having a small issues.

When the car is cold-ish under my heavy foot through the gears it's fine.

Once it's warmed up 1st and 2nd are fine but 3rd through 6th the car feels like it's going to shake itself apart and getting worse.

It was happening before the service which had the gearbox oil and filter changed out.

It feels as though its getting worse. Specially when driving on the motorways.

Any acceleration is bad for the car at the moment.

I guess I'm here to ask if anyone has ever heard of this issue or even if anyone knows how to fix it before I get it taken to the garage.

Thankyou

Hi Ross, welcome to the Ford Owners Club

Sounds like a simple case of the clutch failing. What mileage is on the car ?

  • Author

86000.

As it goes ita started playing up in 1st.

If I've read correctly it's the model with the 2 dry clutch packs?

Hi Ross, yes I think it is the model with the twin clutch.

Looks like you are only days away from total failure, 🙄

Magical.

Just what I need to hear.

On the plus side I've just managed todo a 600mile round trip to see my nan on the south coast.

Ok so if it is the twin clutch..... would it better to drop the gearbox and send it to a Specialist or just send the car to the garage and let them deal with all the details?

And thankyou for the response

Well in this case if it were my car I would take the whole car to the garage and let them sort it. Then you get one warranty covering the repair/work and if there are any problems then the garage have to deal with it.

Sounds like plan then. Thanks for the help
