Retro Fit Sat Nav 64 plate

Featured Replies

Hi, first time poster here. I have a 64 plate Smax titanium. Love my car, but would also love sat nav. Husband has just got the Puma and the Ford sat nav is so easy to use (Ford SYNC 3 Navigation). Does anyone know if this can be done? Can you retro fit sat nav in this model if so where do I start? Can't seem to find any local companies doing this so am I faced with the Ford Garage? Thanks

You can't fit SYNC 3 as you have the mk1 S-Max. However, it is possible to fit a sat-nav unit and you have 3 options. First option is the OEM Ford Travelpilot unit that was an optional extra at the factory. Alternatively you can go with a double din conversion and therefore pretty much any radio for sale in Halfords etc. or an aftermarket Android unit that will slot straight in.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the Travelpilot unit. It's over 10 years old now, it looks very dated and is the most hard work to get fitted and working compared to the other 2 options. Plus the map updates are pretty expensive.

Ford won't go near it. All they'll do is replace like-for-like parts.
