Setting the hour/date in my 2005 Focus MK2 without the original radio - is it possible?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, as the title states, I want to set the hour/date on my 2005 Focus Mk2, without having the original radio fitted(i currently have an Android navigation system - which is branded Seicane).

Can I do it, perhaps via an OBD2 scan tool? I bought one 1-2 years ago, it is made special for Ford, I used it for enabling auto locks on my car and I was wondering is there any setting in there that I can use. I dont have any apps for the OBD2 installed at the moment, so I would appreciate if someone can guide me to one which can do the trick; or if there's any other possibility(maybe a setting in the radio android system which I didnt see?).

Thank you in advance.

Setting the date/time requires the original audio system. On all Focus MK2/MK2.5 vehicles the date/time is stored inside the instrument cluster. The audio system is just an interface that has the ability to set/change the date/time through the CANbus network. As far as I know there is no aftermarket audio system that supports CANbus communication and has the ability to communicate with other CANbus modules. Aftermarket audio systems that support CANbus communication only listen to the CANbus communication and do not actively send CANbus messages.

There is however a workaround to change/set the date/time without an original audio system connected. To do this you have to activate the FFH (Fuel Fired Heater) inside the instrument cluster configuration using a suitable diagnostic system. Once the FFH is activated the instrument cluster menu contains additional functions related to the FFH. One of these functions is the ability to change/set the date/time from within the instrument cluster menu. After the date/time are set you have to deactivate the FFH to prevent error codes.

@JW1982,thank your for your response. On monday I'll try to activate the FFH option in my car using ELMConfig. Could you please confirm that the setting from the photo attached is the setting you are referring as needed to set the hour/date on my 2005 Focus?
