My 2013 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Diesel is making a whining noise after the car is turned off

My 2013 1.6 diesel Ford Fiesta is making a whining noise when I turn it off. It is a distinct whining noise and is not the sound of the usual fan. It only lasts a couple of seconds. The only time I have heard it is when I turn the car off so I’m thinking it has something to do with the car cooling down/ engine etc rather than the power steering or accelerator as I don’t hear it when driving.

 

Would anyone please be able to help?

    Hello, I know this was posted a while ago.  I was just looking online, because my car is making the same noise.  Did you find out what it was causing the noise?? Thank you in advance 🙂

    It's normal.  The car goes through a set of 'self-tests' after every drive.  :smile:
