Not trying to bore you guys with what I make, just sharing what I enjoy making.

This version was the first Lancaster to do the food drops over Holland after WWII ended.

Awesome job! Aircraft recognition used to be a hobby of mine when I was younger, so this is right up my street. Unfortunately I shake worse than a sh*tting dog so could never do something as skilled as this.

Super model Ian.

I've just finished reading "Lancaster", by John Nichol.  "Operation Manna", commencing on 29th April 1945 gets a few pages, "3000 sorties, 6684 tons of food dropped".  Amazing book, more about the crews, than the aircraft itself.

Yes it was an epic aid in helping out, unfortunately even though the was was over civvies still died, not from starvation but by food being dropped from the bombers, there was reports that people stood below the drop line ready to jump on the food, only to be hit by the food, can you imagine the force/impact caused by the dropped food, like a non fused bomb in itself.

This photo of JO-U was taken just before she was scrapped, no one cared as to the importance of this Lancaster, but someone knew so snapped this picture before being smashed up, it was the same with all aircraft, war was over and everyone wanted to forget what had happened, so get rid of all war machines, though many pig farmers enjoyed the bombers as the fuselage sections was made into pig sheds and the flaps made into pig pens.

Nicely done Ian.
I built an Airfix Lancaster a couple of years ago (Thumper, the BBMF one).
