Hello folks,

Just found this and thought it might be interesting to join.

I'm from Belgium but frequently visits the UK.

At the end of April 2021 I bought a slightly used (or so I thought) 2020 Mondeo ST-Line (5d) 2.0 Ecoblue 190 with the 8 speed automatic.

I bought the car with 11.000km on the odometer, today I reached 37.000km (yeah 26.000 in 3,5 months is a quite a bit LOL). I bought the car at a Ford Dealer but I was in a rush and needed a vehicle quickly and thus didn't check to much. I inspected the car and everything seemed fine, since it came from a Ford dealer and it had warranty I didn't bother to ask about the previous owner... Which kinda turned out to be a mistake.

In the first week I had the car I got a message on the dashboard "see manual" with a wrench. Nothing more, nothing less. The manual only said that it could be a drivetrain issue. So I went to my local dealer (other one than the one I bought the car from) and he didn't seem to be worried: keep driving and check back when you come for maintenance. (the error vanished quickly so I wasn't to worried either).

A few days went by and the error popped up again... Again the dealer said: no worries, keep driving it will be OK (I changed dealers after that). Since I used to be a fleet manager with a company that owned a fleet of Ford vehicles I still had my ways to get details about the car. So I searched and found my old logins and checked in the Ford systems to find more information about my car.  I found the complete buildsheet and some other details and I also found where the car was initially delivered and that made me a bit mad:

Ford Lommel Proving Ground

Yup, my car was delivered ex-factory to the test circuit here in Belgium and they used the car for a year... Something the dealer didn't bother to mention. In the mean time I ordered an OBD2 reader and I found a bunch of faults stored.  The most important ones were leaking injectors...

Fuming with some rage I went to another dealer (number 3) to have the issues sort out.  They ended up reprogramming the car and told me it should be OK...  2 days later, my old friend the error was back... This time they pushed the warranty service to have the faulty injectors replaced and they agreed to replace 1 even though a second one had faults also.  The dealer fixed it and for about 4 weeks everything was normal...

Until 2 weeks ago when I was in the UK and the same error popped up once again...  A quick readout gave me another faulty injector (wonder oh wonder). The day after I got a replacement car and 2 days later another injector was fixed.  The dealer wasn't allowed to replace the other 2 since they think "if there's no error at 35.000km, they'll be fine". Yeah, right, the last error popped up at 33.000km...

Oh well, in a few weeks I'll take it on a small road trip to Italy, wonder if will get additional errors.

I kinda like the car though a little voice tell me to sell it and buy another one but chip shortages has a side effect: they can't guarantee me a delivery date for a new one. So I guess I'll be driving this around until either my warranty runs out (7 years or 150.000km) or if a new Mondeo will come I might trade it in for a new one (if the new one has a diesel or a decent hybrid, not the current ***** one).

Sorry for the long text LOL

The car is a 2020 Ford Mondeo (built in January 2020):
- 2.0 Ecoblue 190, 8 speed automatic
- ST-Line with some options:
- 19" rims (which suck for borders)
- LED lights
- Automatic parking, adaptive cruise control, etc...
- The only things missing is a sunroof and ventilated seats and AWD, that's about it, the rest is on the vehicle

I ordered a small improvement today, 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires... The idiot that thought that Continental PremiumContact 6 are good tires ex-factory should think again, they are rubbish!

Oh, almost forgot: I love the fuel economy! Even with my heavy foot I still manage to end up below 6 liters / 100km. Currently average 5,7 liter / 100km which is awesome!
