Ford S-Max fuel gauge problems

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2010 Ford S-Max 2.0L CDTI car that recently developed an issue with the fuel gauge. (Car has a digital gauge)

When I start the car it shows the correct amount of fuel in the take but after about 15-60 seconds it reports no fuel and the "fill up" light comes on.

It's gradually getting worse. For example initially it only happened every once in a while but now it's pretty consistent every time I start the engine.

Anyone has any idea what could it be?

Many thanks

Chris

UPDATE: So I took the car to my local garage and they confirmed that it's an issue with the fuel sender unit. Unfortunately this is part of the fuel pump and it has to come from the main dealer and they quoted me for £649.50.

Yeah looks like the pump/sender unit is around £400 from Ford unfortunately.
