MK8 Fiesta A/C drain location?

Featured Replies

Couple of weeks ago I noticed the air coming from my vents was very damp/humid, enough to fog up my windows and windscreen, I realised it’s typically the day after using my air con for a decent period of time so I’m thinking the air con drain line is clogged, does anyone know where it is?

Don’t think there’s an issue with the A/C itself as it’s still cold and there is no coolant smell, very little water under the car too. Also checked the cabin filter and it’s soaked but no way to get to the condensate drain from there (that I can see anyway)

car is a 2018 fiesta just out of warranty (typical eh?)

cheers

Any luck with this?

I don't know exactly on the Mk8, but they're usually straight down into the exhaust tunnel on modern cars.

So if you remove the lower kick panels below the centre console and peel back the carpet you should find it.

Yeah, I've done this as suffering the same problem to be greeted with something that looks like a fishtank filter blowing bubbles!

Hmm, have you found the drain pipe though?  That silver one is the AC evaporator pipe I think, so water won't be coming from the pipe itself.  More likely that the evaporator is 'bathed' in condensed water and just blowing out of the lowest possible air gap.

No haven't will take a little look later on.

Yeah, that's exactly right. I had the same problem last year all be it not as bad. Local dealer unblocked the drain for me as was in for tyres at the same time. Unfortunately it seems it's come back! Surly blocking twice in 12 months isn't right?

It does seem odd to have blocked again so quickly.  Did they say what it was blocked with?  If the pollen filter wasn't installed correctly, there could be a load of leaf litter or something stuck in the bottom of the AC box.

No not at all, from memory last year the pollen filter was soaking, no doubt it will be this time too.
