Mk3 2011 Ford Focus Behaving very strangely

Featured Replies

Hi,

Today I was on my way to work and my car felt very different. As I was driving it, it felt it was braking and then would stop. It would do this repeatedly. I put it off as a glitch because of the cold weather, but as I got to work a message came up on the driver screen saying “tyre pressure system malfunction”. On my break from work (about six hours after I had parked), I planned to drive to complete an errand, it was then that I noticed the effects of the issue. The message came up again, straight after I lost my power steering, my speedo needle stoped working! My ABS, TRACTION OFF, and DEFLATION lights all came on, engine also accompanied them. I took the car to my regular mechanic where they ran the checks using the computer. He said the messages that were shown were to do with voltage but he could not figure out why the car was affected that way.

I’m so lost and am praying that I don’t have to pay an arm to fix my baby 😩 Can someone please help with some suggestions and advice.

Thanks I’m advance

I'm having an almost identical problem to you with my 2011 Focus titanium estate. Have you managed to solve the issue now? If so I would love to know what was wrong and how you sorted it out.

Had similar issues was abs sensor

Thanks for the reply John. Yes I did replace a wheel sensor a couple of months ago after it was flagged by my scanner. All was fine until 2 weeks ago. Now extra problems are including engine not switching off immediately on button and fan running as soon as engine starts. Powertrain control issue? I have no idea!! Last time I drove 6 miles without any issues.

When mine went bad had the engine woukdnt shut off, hill start not working, stop start, power steering and speedo not working. Reckon it was more about dirt on ring gear than the sensor

My scanner today telling me it is left front wheel sensor. I'd already replaced left rear but symptoms similar to yours.

Scanner also picked up U0415: 00-28 Invalid data received from ABS Control Module A.

Also flagged front door modules??

I may get round to looking at it one day soon I hope.

Well I've replaced a front wheel sensor and all is working fine now (so far, touch wood!) I would like to have cleaned the ring gear but access looks like a problem? so fingers crossed new sensor will be enough to keep it sorted.

I had a similar problem, and the root cause was a front wheel bearing that had made the ABS sensor wear.  Might be worth checking the bearing, or it might just wear out your new sensor.
