Ford Fiesta Zetec Mk6 Ground point for headlights

Featured Replies

Hi…Ford fiesta Zetec 04 plate, when I turn the headlights fully on, the driver side headlight comes on but dimmer than the passenger side one. The driver side indicator bulb also comes on dimly and if I push the indicator stalk to turn right the indicator light does not flash. Passenger side lights work fine. I suspect this is an earthing point fault but can’t find th ground point for the driver side headlight/indicator lights (this is a shared ground point). Any one know where it is is or have the wiring diagram for the headlights

Thanks

I don’t know the answer but I would try out adding a wire from the the ground terminal on bulb to the negative battery terminal to see if it makes a difference to prove whether or not it is ground problem

E4 - Base of strut tower, inner wing.

Have you removed the headlamp unit connector and sprayed some contact cleaner in the Plug/Socket ?

This is a diagram modified for my mods. but shows headlamp relays and fuses.

Thanks for replies all, in terms of the @Paulkp E4 base of strut tower...how difficult would you say this is to get to...is it just lifting the car up and it's visible or would I have to remove parts to get to it....would prefer to do it myself as just want to give the ground point a good clean hope it resolves issue

I'm not sure exactly where it is, but if you have had the headlight assembly off, you should be able to follow the direction of the cabling ?  If the earth point is under the expansion tank, that is easy to remove.  I don't think you need to get under the car to find it.

Just an update on this, ground point was under the expansion tank... thanks @Paulkp. Ground wire looked like it had been chewed by a rodent. Replaced the wire and problem resolved

Glad to hear it !
