Ford Transit Connect 2017 1.5 Duratorq TDCI heavy ticking noise from cam area...

Featured Replies

HI there,

I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem that has developed with my Transit Connect Van 2017 1.5 Duratorq TDCI engine. It has only done 62000 miles and is 3 years and 8months old. Heavy ticking noise coming from cam area and the 'service vehicle now' warning has come up with an orange warning exclamation sign, on the dash.

My mechanic who services it with genuine Ford parts, said that it reported a P0340 code (camshaft positioning sensor A circuit) and suggested changing the sensor. We did and the problem remains. I have had two mechanics say it most likely to be a slipped lobe on the cam or the belt has slipped a tooth. Just wondered if anyone else has had or come across anything similar and whether I should take it up with Ford, as Im told this shouldnt have happened to an engine having done so few miles.

Would appreciate any help as its looking expensive. Thanks

You might want to check if your van is subject to the recall discussed at length in this thread mate.  If your van isn't subject to the recall then at least you can rule out 1 possible cause for the issue you're having.

(I think it only affected earlier builds, but there's no harm in checking)
