Emergency Key problem - MK4

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Decided to randomly test my emergency keys today and have come to find one of them doesn't fit the lock, which I will contact ford about.

The other key does fit but the barrel just spins 360 either way and never unlocks the car... do you think the barrel is bust or am I missing something?

I'm out I warranty now so will be annoyed if I have to pay for a new barrel.

Thanks,
Mark

I don't know what is wrong, but when you put the key in it should be very hard to turn, so much so that you need to put it in the fob at right angles for extra leverage and it should only turn a quarter turn just after the point where you think something is going to break.

Thanks Tizer,

Yes in fact I used the fob to turn the key as was so stiff.
