I am unable to gain entry to my Ford Focus 1.6 zetec mk2 the key fob will not unlock the door and the key will not opperate the lock manually either so I am totally locked out of the car has anyone any ideas.

    This often happens.

    Get yourself a tin of WD40 and give the mechanical lock a massive spray, then go and put the kettle on. Come back in a couple of hours and work the key backwards and forwards and the lock will free up.

    Your car battery has most probably just gone flat.

    Does mk2 have deadlocks? If deadlocks were on and battery is flat I don’t know the procedure. At least with a focus you can open the bonnet to get to the battery without having to get inside the car.
