Mk2.5 TDCI 1.6. Yesterday immedialtely after starting it starts high idling (1050 ish), engine malfunction alarm goes off, start/stop button stops responding so engine wont turn off. Read the codes using Torque. See attached screenshots. After about a minute everything returned to normal. Today, started fine in the morning, but after stopping the car at daycare same procedure again but everything returns to normal after about 10 seconds.

What is going on? Is this the old instrument cluster issue? All the P-codes would indicate it's Powertrain related. Where do I even start looking?

Three of the codes were already there before, hadn't gotten around to clearing them, one was the p2290 can't remember the other ones.

Strangely enough the U1900 doesn't show up, which is the instrument cluster error code.

Update: Whatever actually caused this, so far it's not happened again. I'm inclined to blame some form of water ingress but where? Hoping it was a one time occurence.

What year is the car mate? I had a 2010 TDCI which I traded in recently, and I had issues with random warning lights coming on while driving, then disappearing after 10-30 seconds (dashboard looked like Oxford Street at Christmas). A couple of times the immobiliser kicked in when trying to start. 2 separate mechanics said there is a known issue with the dashboard cluster - solder goes bad and sends all sorts of error codes to the car. Was told the best fix was to send the dashboard cluster to clusterrepair who will resolder and should solve problem.
