Just got Focus 2012 Titanium. Both keyless remotes failed to unlock it recently.  Done a code scan.  Got u2100 and u2101.  Measured the batt voltage, engine running.  Got over 15 volts.  Is the alternator fubarred.  Or is something else going on..Also the stop start appears to be inactive.

Thanks in advance.

Ok...One of you tell me what the hell is going on?

The start stop on the Mk3 is hopeless. My last one went 18 months without working.

Over 15 volts with the alternator running is probably ok as the smart charge system varies the voltage as required. Your battery is probably at the end of it's life, especially if it is the original one.

Those codes indicate a programming problem with the Powertrain Control Module. Has someone been trying to reprogram it?

Dealer said this car just had a new battery.  As for the codes..... I don't know.

Thanks

Ian

Ignore the stop/start, it's designed not to work.

Are your remotes working now?

Can you clear the codes with whatever tool you used to read them? If so, clear them and see if they come back.

Somebody might have tried to program the much misunderstood stop start out.  The alternator is fine, the codes are nothing to do with the keyless remotes and if  both keys are now working, you might consider temporary radio interference could have been the source of your original problem.

There are plenty of threads on here dealing with the battery reset which is worth trying  and  might get your s/s working after a day or two as it learns the battery condition.

Just to update.  I programmed the battery to the car, and low and behold.  The stop start started working straight away.  So far.  No more issues with the remotes.  Will keep updated.

I did get the thermostat housing etc changed.  As it was taking an age to warm up.  Now all good.
