No GPS and intermittent black screen

Featured Replies

Hi there folks. I'm new to the forum. Hope everyone is well and thanks in advance for any help!

I just bought a 2013 Focus 1.6 TDCi Navigator yesterday. Was really happy with it until, ironically, I discovered the sat nav doesn't work. I drove the near 40 miles home from the second hand dealership where I bought it with the sat nav speaking to me in German and not.knkwing where I was! I presumed it was just some settings that needed changed. However, when I started to look at it closely today I noticed there is a 'No GPS' message on the bottom of the screen the whole time. I tried a master reset but this never worked. I've read disconnecting the negative connection on the battery may fix it but have yet to try this.

Not sure if it's related but on two or three occasions (not just when trying to use sat nav) the system has just stopped and went to a black screen. When this has happened, if I stop and start the engine again the system reappears.

I'm gonna call the second hand place I bought it at tomorrow but with it being a second hand car and their warranty not covering this I'm not too hopeful they'll do anything!

Thought I'd join here and get some suggestions for plan B!

Thank you,

Rob

I've got the "No GPS" display on mine too... I'm sure ive seen something elsewhere on the forum on how to correct it but haven't had chance to look at it properly yet, if I find it I'll link it to this thread.

Try this thread, you may find it useful, I'm going to take the antenna unit of on mine and see what condition the receiver is underneath...
