Focus Mk2.5 Dash Display not working after garage break-in

Featured Replies

Today I found my garage broken into. One of the strange things I found was that the red digital display on my dash (between the tachymeter and speedometer) is not working anymore. I leave my car unlocked without the keys. Any ideas if this could be related? How easy is it to mess with the car and have it affect the display? Is it just a coincidence?

Hello Braden, there are a couple of possible things. Firstly is the battery fully charged ?

Disconnect the battery negative lead and leave it off for 10 mins then reconnect, this will cause all modules to go through the restart. - Often this will fix a problem like yours.

Lastly your instrument cluster is of the type and age that suffer from poor solder joints caused by the Lead Free solder that was used at the time of manufacture. There are companies on eBay who offer a repair service for about £50 to £70.
