glyn hannan
To all Focus diesel owners, my son has a 2006 1.6 diesel focus went to work ok came to go home it wouldnt start, RAC. Said it was fuel pump, but another mechanic has mentioned that ford diesels are more or less bullet proof, any ideas as to why it wont start. If it was ok in the morning why is it suddenly not starting later on.

Even if the engine is "More or less bullet proof", it doesn't mean the fuel pump or any other accessories are.
TomsFocus
An early DV6 definitely isn't bulletproof anyway! Is it turning over?

TomsFocus
Might just need a new fuel filter then. Diesel waxes in cold weather so if it was nearly blocked, today could have finished it off. I'd still suggest getting diagnostics on it though. The RAC guy probably just saw that there was low fuel pressure and blamed the pump. isetta
If it got a leak in pipe between the high pressure pump and the tank then all the fuel drains back to tank leaving pipe full of air that has been sucked in my fuel draining down to tank. It would then need bleeding and air leak fixed. Not saying it is that from what we know so far we can’t rule it out.
