Rear wiper

Featured Replies

Is the rear wiper on the MK3 meant to auto wipe when you spray the washers? I'm sure it did before. I noticed it doesn't tonight. If so what would be stopping it happening?

Yes it should wipe you release the stalk which activates the spray. The "what would be stopping it happening" I will have to leave to others. Does the wiper work with the switch on the end of the stalk?

Anyone else got any idea?

Not sure about your exact model, but on many cars if the screen wash tank is low it will not operate the wiper. Try topping up the screen wash.

Other than that I'm afraid you maybe looking at problems with the BCM, the normal issue of water causing damage and corrosion to the pins of the BCM connectors.

I will top it up first and hope for the best then if not I will pull the BCM plugs and check but hope it's the first one.

It went back to working fine again but once I get my new tyres tomorrow I will disconnect the battery and remove the plug and check for fur/dampness.

Did you fill the screen wash tank ?

No didn't get the chance finished work then had to go shopping. I may even look into Forscan and see if anything was happening when it didn't work. The screen wash has a low level indicator so it's not low.

Ah!!! then it could still be that it is starting to get a little low. I used to have a Vauxhall vectra that would stop the wash/wipe when the level was getting low, and then about two days latter put a warning light on to say it needed screen wash. I never did understand why Vauxhall must have had two diffrent level sensors for screen wash.

Didn't get a chance to do this yet. Had so much on at work with consolidation coaching and User acceptance testing All draining me then the rain last weekend did not help. Hopefully will be able to pull the plugs this weekend as I am curious.

Pulled all the plugs in the BCM today and it's all bone dry in there the pins are still silver. So think I will still replace the washer pump for preventive maintenance. Is the new one changed to stop this happening?
