Changing key battery

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently got low battery warning on both of our car keys. I ordered new 2032 batteries and changed them over but the keys were not detected unless I put them on the sensor pad. I put the old batteries back in then the keys worked again.

I purchased new batteries again tonight and the same problem again, the key was not detected and the central locking would not work. I did check I put the batteries in the correct way

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Your replacment batteries are of poor quality.

Buy only Duracell or Panasonic, and get them from a known good supplier like an electrical wholesaler.

Batteries from Poundland and multipacks from eBay cause many problems with Ford keyfobs

Both times I purchased Duracell and both packs had the same problem

If you have a multimeter measure the voltage of the battery. A good fresh CR2032 should be 3.3V

Have you put the battery in the correct way up. It is easy to fit them upside down.

Edit: Sorry, I re-read your post and you said that you had checked this.

Perfect advice, without knowing the exact voltage your battery is pumping out, you are p*ssing against the wind...
